I’m going to let one picture tell you how good Bogart’s was.

Folks, thats a cleaned plate. My cleaned plate. Its possible, that in the history of Sabrina, this has never happened before. I’m not a plate cleaner. I always leave something behind… but Friday night. I cleaned my plate. And still wanted more. Steve and I got the rotisserie sampler platter, a special for the evening. Bogarts’s specializes in rotisserie meats, and our platter included a little of each, chicken, pork and beef. With some smashed potatoes and asparagus as sides. All of it was absolutely divine. Every meat was melt in your mouth good.
However, better than the lovely dinner selection was the martinis.

Excuse the poor quality of the photos. My camera did not seem to enjoy the swanky atmosphere and lighting as much as we did.
At eight bucks a pop, I only got to enjoy two martinis. First I tried the Mixed Berry Martini. It was, by far, the best drink I have ever had in my entire life. I downed the whole thing and licked the sugared rim all before my salad arrived. With my meal I tried the Watermelon Jolly Rancher Martini. It too was super yummy. Kinda sticky, but still lick your lips good. I will definitely be returning to try some more, preferably on Thursday night when they are half price. Cause then I can have four!

I believe Steve can confirm that we had a lovely night. The only disappointment was that the live band was outside for the evening and we were seated inside (before we realized that was case). Sheesh, the one time I would have volunteered to eat outside…. We know for next time, though. And there will be a next time. And if you’re interested in going, we’ll definitely join you.

The happy couple:

[...] Next weekend, Steve and I will be celebrating six years of wedded ‘bliss.’ Unfortunately, we’re kind of at a loss for what to do. Mostly because we’re broke (like cant even afford to split a nice steak dinner at my favorite steak place broke) and every idea I come up with (like his and hers tattoos!) costs moola. But lets recap previous years for fun. Our honeymoon was spent at a lovely B&B just outside of Lynchburg. Sometimes B&Bs can cramp your style, with their close quarters, but Steve scored us a nice little cottage all to ourselves. Sadly, we only got to spend one night there, since we had classes the next day. For our very first anniversary, we got a room at the fancy Hotel Roanoke. And then we spent the whole day at the movie theater (at the time, it was the closest theater with stadium seating) and saw three movies in a row. I vaguely remember a steak dinner involved too, but it could have been Olive Garden (since we didnt have one of those in Lynchburg either). On our second anniversary, we tried the much raved about Angus Barn. It was a lovely evening, but the Barn wasnt all that impressive. Probably because its a barn. And no matter how much you try with the fancy linens and candlelight, you’re still eating in a barn. The third year was probably one of my favorites. We decided we were both in need of a massage and booked at couple’s massage at Iatria. I liked that it wasnt your typical anniversary thing, but it was still time spent together, while pampering ourselves. Our fourth year found us similar to this year, being brokety broke. But, The Steve managed to pull one out of his hat (which must be hiding in a closet somewhere, cause I havent seen it in awhile) and provided a surprisingly romantic evening, on a weeknight nonetheless. And last year, we put on our finest for a mmm mmm good time at Bogarts. Ohh, I had almost forgotten how divine those martinis were. This year, I got nothin. While I know anniversaries arent the be-all-end-all of a marriage, I do always enjoy celebrating us. And steak. I really really enjoy steak. But mostly its about us. (and steak). So, if you have any suggestions on how we can celebrate our six years (for cheap), feel free to comment. [...]
