Ah, having you make decisions for me is very nice.
So, here’s todays decision to make.
You know how much I love Pampered Chef, right? Well, I try to only host 2 shows a year… spring and fall. Its fall, now, and show time. My lovely friend Cindy is a consultant now, and I havent had a show for her yet. Over the weekend I found out the host bonus for September is 60% off Stoneware. 60% people! Thats freakin awesome. But, Cindy and I are crazy booked this month and we couldnt find a date to plan a show. Which means I’ll miss out. Unless I host a catalog show. Not as much fun, but I would still reap the rewards.
But not as much fun! A traditional show means me hosting, in my kitchen, which I love. I could have one in October. The host bonus is discounted stuff for Thanksgiving… a new lovely, um, thing to cook a turkey in. A very nice carving set. But, I’m not cooking a turkey this year, I’m going to Florida. To have Aunt Pattie cook turkey for me (she’s a much better cook than I). But thats not the point, the point is…
You decide for me.
A. Have a catalog show in September, to get 60% off stoneware
B. Have a real show in October, because it fun
The only other info to consider with that decision is the fact that, if I do have it in September, I’ll be very tempted to buy every piece of stoneware I dont already have (which, at this point, isnt a lot), but may turn out to be costly. If I have it in October, I would not spend as much money. And though I sometimes act like I am made of money, I am not, and considering that Christmas will be here in no time, the wise decision would be the less costly one… *sigh*
Meanwhile, I did make the Lemon Cake with Raspberry Mousse last night. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and I brought the leftovers to work and they were gone by 10am. The Mousse was very light and fluffy and marks the first time I made my own whipped cream. Super easy. I think I overcooked the cake a smidge, but nobody seemed to complain. I’ll consider it a success.
I was talking to The Steve the other day, about how odd it is that I get all excited when I see a limousine riding around. I think my excitement is silly because I, normal everyday nothing special Sabrina, have been in a limo more times than I can count. I’ve been escorted to proms, Broadway plays, weddings, funerals… heck, I’ve even taken a limo to my own 13th birthday party and once I got a ride to preschool in one (Rodney Dangerfield’s limo, nonetheless). And still, after all those times, of normal me in pretty limos, I still see a limo in town and immediately think “ooooo I wonder who’s in there… I wonder where they’re going… I bet it’s someone famous.” And, even when I know there’s no way I can see in the tinted windows, I still try. Its all very silly considering the fact that chances are, the person in the limo, is just as normal as I am. With either money to spend, or like me, the right connections.
Another subject: I have to bake a dessert tonight. But I’m torn. Should I make Lemon Cake with Raspberry Mousse Frosting or Peanut Butter Silk Cake?
I am so freakin tyerd. And its nearly 11am and I havent had a snack. I left them all at home. No chocolate. No cookies. Nothing. The makings of a bad day, I tell you.
But yesterday was a good day, so I’ll just tell you about that. The Steve had snagged VIP tickets (yay for Time Warner!) to House Party, a Christian music festival. I must admit, I was more excited about the seats than the concert. And they were great seats. Our own little box, with a bar table and tall chairs. We sat the whole time, and even with the crowd standing in front of us, we could see just fine.
Here’s Neighbor Steve and The Steve sitting, enjoying the show.

There were lots of bands too. First was Joy Williams. A cute happy pop rock girl.

Then there was Matt Carney (I think that was his name) he played a couple songs acoustically while they set up for the next act.

After that was Building 429. They’re originally from Raleigh. In fact, the lead told a story of when he attended a House Party concert and Toby Mac came running down into the audience and high fived him. And now he’s running out into the audience high fiveing people.

And then there was Nicole C Mullen. All the sudden dancers come running out onto the stage and she’s yelling “Are you ready for it?” and really, truly, I was not ready for it. But I enjoyed her and her dancers anyway.

Although the most important thing about Nicole is her arms. Take a look at those. Holy cow.

After Nicole was Chris Rice. He’s a fun guy. I didnt realize how many of his songs I knew. And thankfully he didnt sing the Cartoon Song.

Another in betweener band was Burlap to Cashmere. Mad guitar skills, but not my thing. Unfortunately a song they released years ago (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) was much too overplayed and now I hate it. Hate.

Ah, and then Jars of Clay. My favorite, for sure. Even without a drummer, they were great.

It all ended with Michael W. Smith. For all the Christian concerts and festivals I’ve been to, I’m surprised I’ve never seen him perform. For being almost 50, he sure does bounce around a lot. When he’s not sitting in front of the piano, that is.

Of course, now I’m entirely spoiled and wont be able to attend another concert at Walnut Creek unless we have VIP seats. It was so great, I didnt even realize I was outside.
Hello! And welcome to the official launch of purplesabrina.com! All purple, all sabrina, all the time. And thats a promise.
This blog wont be much different from my blogger blog… except for the fact that its mine and I can do whatever I want. I’ve got some projects in the works, but you’ll just have to be patient.
I know, I know, who wants to be patient? Well, let me tell you a little story about how God rewards patience. I’m sure you all remember my blog about the lovely super soft purple pajamas at Victoria’s Secret. And you remember that I didnt buy them. And if you keep up with my personal life, you know I didnt get them as a gift from my husband either. But thats okay, because after a month of waiting, I got them. On sale. And thats how patience pays off. With patience, you save money. And that makes everyone happy. But, as my friend CJ once said “God has a twisted sense of humor.” Because when I went into Victoria’s Secret yesterday, the pajamas were no where to be found. My heart dropped. I nearly cried and I cursed myself and my damned patience. Luckily, I was brave enough to ask the sales woman if they had any. She went to the back and brought them out. And I rejoiced inside. And now they are mine! Yay! Thats my story on patience, thank you.
Now, if you’re new to purplesabrina.com, or havent been paying attention on my old blog… lets go over a few important details.
1. I’m Sabrina
2. I love purple
3. I blog about nothing, really
4. But all my blog entries begin with a song lyric, go ahead… guess what song this one is from.
5. I dont blog on weekends
6. I really really like cake
I think that covers it.
Stay tuned, next week I’ll be bringing you my fall tv lineup… you dont want to miss it.
**oh, I forgot to mention… please view this site in Firefox or Safari or something thats not Internet Explorer. Its a very pretty site and best viewed in something not owned by Microsoft. Thanks.

It’s my favorite time of year. Cause with Fall comes the start of the television season. The week of the 19th is the true premiere week, but there are a couple of smart shows that will start a week or two before.
The best show, is, thankfully, starting tonight. If you arent watching The OC, well, I dont even know why we’re still friends. Cause, clearly, you dont care what I have to say. You better have a damn good reason, at this point. Like, its against your religion or something. But even if that were the case… pick a new religion, man.
Watch The OC. 8pm, tonight.
