Last week, I was Krogering and I spotted something I’ve been keeping my eye out for awhile… purple cauliflower! I knew it existed, and could often find the orange variety, but they were always out of purple (naturally). This was my lucky day!
I bought it… even though I had no idea what I would do with it (other than stare at it, and clap my hands every time I opened the fridge).
Unfortunately, I was not quick enough… and it was moldy by Monday. After taking this picture (see the mold? yuck!) I threw it out. Bummer.

I should be better prepared for the next time. What can I do with purple cauliflower? Purple cauliflower soup (how awesome would purple soup be?!) Do you have any suggestions?

I have a good recipe for califlower gratin - so it would be purple & white, but still purple!!! It’s Giada’s recipe and it sounds amazing. I have yet to make it but it’s filed away so I can - I’ll email it to you!

Cauliflower soup is always yummy - along the lines of broccoli cheddar - enough cheesy goodness to hide the actual taste of cauliflower. I don’t know how purple cauliflower and cheese would combine color-wise though …

Mashed cauliflower would maintain the purpley integrity I think. Then add chives for green specks and flavor! That would be so yum.

Every time I have seen this I thought of you. Funny how you now command a whole color all to yourself in my mind. See something purple that normally isn’t purple… Gee, Sabrina would sure like this!

Yes, scary… there’s this purple house in our neighborhood Nikki refers to as The Sabrina House. Such power!
