I have this shirt. It is now 14 years old. I’ve been wearing it since 9th grade (I know, lets not talk about the fact that I fit in a shirt from 9th grade). In high school… I probably only wore it when I was sick… for comfort. And in college, maybe a little more. But something happened post-college and it became my most favorite shirt. And now, after 8 years of wearing it regularly, its become a second skin to me. I cant imagine life, specifically sleeping, without this shirt. Sure, it goes away for the winter months… but in the summer, I have to force myself to wear something else. All I want is this shirt.

The shirt has its first hole. Its obviously thinning in other places, and it wont be long before the whole thing falls apart. You might as well have told me my dog was dieing in six months… thats how devistated I am. I realize its just a shirt… and I’ll get over it… but I think about how comfy it is… how natural it feels… and I dont want to say goodbye… I love my shirt.

Since you know it’s on the way out, maybe it’s time to start scouting for a new favorite shirt. Or would you need time to mourn before you can start wearing something else?

Um, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT. Get rid of this shirt. You will regret it! I too, have a couple oldies, but goodies…they have holes in the arm pits now and I wear them anyway (of course only around the house) but you can’t buy shirts like that and the softness takes years to form. I am jealous of your awesome shirt!

You could always make a pillow out of it so you can feel it’s softness, yet keep it forever! I would definitely put a fabric under it when making the pillow so if a hole does form the stuffing doesn’t come out. I had a ton of t-shirts I loved from when I was younger and didn’t want to give up. My mom is planning to make a quilt out of them so I can have them forever!

I have a favorite shirt too. Its my high school gym shirt. Its a bit big on me, but so soft. Adam likes to wear it too because its a bit small on him and therefore shows off his muscles. Well, not recently, because now it also shows off his mini little pooch. Hehe.
