Forever I Am Changed

Aside from the influx of Peeps, you would hardly notice it was Easter in our house. I dont know how it happened, but for some reason, I just havent gotten into celebrating it, like the other commercialized holidays. Sure we went to church (or rather, worked at church), but other than that… nothing. No fancy meal. No Easter baskets. No egg coloring. No traditions at all.
But with AJ on his way, and knowing that next Easter, I’ll have a 1 year old to entertain, I figured it was time to start picking out some traditions. I’d like to focus just as much on Jesus as the Easter bunny, though.
Do you have any Easter traditions to suggest? What made the holiday special for you as a child?

my girls LOVE LOVE LOVE the little resurrection eggs you can get at the christian bookstore…LOVE THEM. and of course, we hide hats full of treats on easter night and they spend sunday morning before church looking for them… :)

I love the hat idea. You don’t have to find a place to store the baskets after easter is over. Of course thats probably an easier thing to do with girls than boys. My mom used a powder puff and made bunny tracks through the house from the window to our baskets. It made it seem more exciting.

I just started doing this this year with my third graders but they LOVED it … and so did the parents. We made Easter baskets for the Durham Rescue Mission and then instead of having an Easter egg hunt or a wild, sugary party, we watched “An Easter Carol” by VeggieTales and had cookies and punch.

I’m also struggling with Easter ideas. I love the idea of making baskets for kids who might not get them. My mom did this for her area women’s shelter this year.
