Whatcha Gonna Do When They Come For You?

In case anyone was wondering, I have no criminal record. Steve’s clear back to July 2000, we’re still waiting on his records from Florida. You never know.
Getting background checks has been an interesting experience. Most interesting is that every state (and maybe every county) does it differently. Lynchburg, VA requires permission, signed and notarized documents, a visit to the Police Department and $15 a piece for a background check. Durham requires a visit to the County Court House, 10 bucks and the name and birthdate of anyone you’d wish to check (no permission, no signed documents, no notary). So far, with Port Charlotte, Fl my only communication has been via email with the records keeper. I’m waiting to hear back from her on what she need from me.
All that to tell you, and the important people, that I have no criminal record.
Our other important documents are coming together well. I think I’ll be calling our Social Worker this weekend to set up our first official meeting. Our first meeting will be off site. What location should I suggest? God knows it wont be a park. Starbucks? Ice Cream? Library? What says “Hello, I’m the most responsible person you’ll ever meet.”?
