Another One Bites The Dust

Annie, Annie, Annie, you’ve let me down. Well, I suppose it was Tim and his silly Y chromosome. But whatever. I was couting on you guys.
In all seriousness, congratulations to Tim & Annie as they join the ranks in what is definitely The Year of The Boy. Hope these boys like their purple dresses.

I recently ordered some baby shower gifts from Raspberry & Sage. I’ll admit, most of the items on their site are out of my price range. But I did manage to find a good deal on something. When I received their item in the mail, it made it all worth while. It was like Christmas in July. I opened the box and it was filled with colorful tissue paper. I pulled away the tissue paper to find a cute Raspberry & Sage giftbag. When I pulled that out, I noticed it was tied neatly with a cute grosgrain ribbon and attached to it, with a gold clothespin, was a cookie! A purple frosted flower cookie! Yum! Inside the bag, my items were neatly wrapped in blue tissue paper. Seriously, it was awesome. I mean, any company that sends me a free cookie gets my recommendation. Order something from Raspberry & Sage, its worth it.

It Takes My Pain Away

They often compare the mountains of paperwork involved in adopting a baby to pregnancy. Using that analogy, I’m having a swollen feet, nasea filled, back pain kind of day.
Our agency, and Korea, request criminal background checks dating back 7 years. Thats fine. It was probably the hardest paperwork to obtain, out of all the documents requested, but I got it done. I did my part. I found the right people and places, I wrote the checks, I made the requests. I even traveled to Lynchburg.
Florida did not hold up their end of the deal. They mailed me a certified letter that was supposed to be for Steve, but instead has my name on it. His birthday, my name. I believe it was a typo, as I was the one communicating with them. But my sweet agency wants the real deal.
What bothers me most about these background checks is that they all come up blank. We dont have a criminal record! Why cant you just believe me?! I’m an honest person. Why do I have to pay a total of $62 dollars to prove it?
And now I have to wait a couple more weeks for a new letter to say the same thing the other one says. Which is just silly.
And that’s the cause of the pain in my back.

Hands Down

This actually happened on Friday, but with the busy weekend and a special Monday off work, I havent had the chance to blog it.

We got our fingerprinting appointment!!!! Yay! This is a big milestone in the adoption process and I was overly excited to see the envelope from CIS in my stack of mail. I prayed “please dont let this be a denial” over and over as I opened it, only to see a letter (with LOTS of instructions) summoning us to have our fingerprints taken on August 16th at 2pm. We will be there!
The letter confirms that they are taking about 100 days to process applications, and our login date was June 26th. If thats 100 real days, that puts us at the beginning of October. If thats 100 business days (which is better not be) then we’re not sending our stuff to Korea until the beginning of November. I’ll try not to worry about why they’re taking so damn long to process a three page document. And you can pray hard that someone lights a fire under their bums and they get to work.
But still, fingerprinting appointment, yay!

Yay!
