Anything You Ask

Alright, enough with the whiny crap and feeling like since things arent moving ANYWHERE I have nothing to blog about.
I’ve got plenty to blog about! Not really, but I’ll come up with something.
I’m going to use this time to try and give those that might consider adopting the insiders inside scoop. I dont want anyone going into this process blindly and even though I did a lot of research, there were still a few surprises. So, hopefully I can come up with a few future entries that will provide some insight.
Stay tuned.

Catch My Troubled Head

I feel like I should be over it. By this time, I should have accepted the fact that God has a plan and it included pushing things back indefinitely. I should be a-okay with not having a timeline. I should only be seeing the bright side of things.
And most of all, I shouldnt be whining. I mean, I got myself into this. I willingly decided on the upredictableness of adoption over the pain of pregnancy. I made my bed…
But I’m still bummed. Everyday I’m reminded of what I dont have, and wont have for much longer than I’d prefer.
I realize, in comparison, its not that bad. It wasnt a miscarriage. It wasnt getting a referral and then having the birth mother change her mind.
But I did have plans and dreams. And now I’m afraid to do any of that cause I dont want to get my hopes up again. It just sucks, is all.

Aruba, Jamaica, Oooo I Wanna Take Ya

We have passports! They arrived in the mail on Friday (with birth certificates attached). Now we can go anywhere! Do anything! Its very exciting and liberating. Not that we plan to go anywhere or do anything (or could afford to). But, we’re one step closer to traveling to Korea to get our baby. Yay!

But I Didnt Shoot The Deputy

Yesterday, we drove to the far off land of Charlotte, NC because we had been summoned by CIS to get our fingerprints taken, as part of completing our application to the US Government for adopting internationally. We didnt really know what to expect. But we found the building (it was rather unimpressive for being government operated) and got in line. It was a speedy process of filling out some paperwork and waiting for our number to be called. When I sat down it was on:

And I was:

(Steve was 516). So, not long at all. While we waited, Steve and I talked about getting ink on our hands and the ink they use and blah blah blah. We were definitely shown our ignorance when we got up to the computer terminals and realized that our prints would be taken via biometric scanners. I was really excited by the process, but apparently I had a hard time relaxing my hands. She had to keep rescanning my fingers (which they do in sets, and then one by one). I took so long that Steve was finished before me. She kept shaking my hands (which, btw, is not exactly relaxing, but alarming). Eventually it okayed my prints and we were able to leave. She wouldnt let me take a picture, though. So you’ll just have to enjoy these exterior shots of us post fingerprinting.

More expensive than other slings, but the pattern is irresistable to me. Love!
