Adoption Rocks!

This is the shirt I would want to be wearing on the very long flight to Korea (and back again). While most soon to be mom’s have a big belly for advertising their pending arrival, I wont. I think this would be the best way to let people in on why I’m so smiley (assuming I will be smiling, and traveling wont be a hassle (ie: my cakes dont get stolen, my luggage doesnt get lost, they dont think The Steve is a terrorist)). Top of my list, this shirt.

Baby, One More Time

Happy Day of Birth to Corban Jacob! He was born this morning, weighing in at a whopping 8lbs, 11oz. Making him the biggest baby born in the Year of The Boy and also the biggest of Marissa’s three babes. Congrats to Marissa and Brian! I’m not sure if they’re brave or crazy, for welcoming their 3rd baby in 3 years.
Thankfully, Corban was born in the Triangle area, so I’ll be visiting him right after work today. Pictures to follow.

Dear Birthmother,

First of all, thank you. Thank you for putting the needs of your child before your own. Thank you for making the decision to give your child opportunities it may not have otherwise. I can only imagine how difficult this decision was, but I want you to know that you made the right one.
Because of your decision, we now welcome a new member into our family. Please know that though we plan to raise your child as our own, it will always know that its birthmother loved it dearly. We know that you want the best for this child and will remind it of that, as well as honor and celebrate its heritage and native country. We promise to never forget about you. Your child will always know of your great love and sacrifice for it. We promise to love our new baby unconditionally. We promise to provide for it completely.
Our decision to adopt is based primarily on our desire to love a child and provide for it in ways that it might not experience otherwise. We hold strongly the qualities of love, respect, honesty, and integrity. We promise to raise our child with those same values.
Once more, thank you. You will always be in our heart and prayers.
