That would be four, yes four, computers. All on and doing something. Often I find myself shaking a mouse wondering why it isnt working, only to realize I’ve got the wrong one in my hand.
Dont get me wrong… three of those computers are Macs and that makes me very very happy. If I could set up two more and completely surround myself, that’d be cool with me. But, they sure do mean more work. And more work means less blog.
So, I’ll see you in a few weeks.

I have this shirt. It is now 14 years old. I’ve been wearing it since 9th grade (I know, lets not talk about the fact that I fit in a shirt from 9th grade). In high school… I probably only wore it when I was sick… for comfort. And in college, maybe a little more. But something happened post-college and it became my most favorite shirt. And now, after 8 years of wearing it regularly, its become a second skin to me. I cant imagine life, specifically sleeping, without this shirt. Sure, it goes away for the winter months… but in the summer, I have to force myself to wear something else. All I want is this shirt.

The shirt has its first hole. Its obviously thinning in other places, and it wont be long before the whole thing falls apart. You might as well have told me my dog was dieing in six months… thats how devistated I am. I realize its just a shirt… and I’ll get over it… but I think about how comfy it is… how natural it feels… and I dont want to say goodbye… I love my shirt.

My State Of Mind Purple

Last week, I was Krogering and I spotted something I’ve been keeping my eye out for awhile… purple cauliflower! I knew it existed, and could often find the orange variety, but they were always out of purple (naturally). This was my lucky day!
I bought it… even though I had no idea what I would do with it (other than stare at it, and clap my hands every time I opened the fridge).

Unfortunately, I was not quick enough… and it was moldy by Monday. After taking this picture (see the mold? yuck!) I threw it out. Bummer.

I should be better prepared for the next time. What can I do with purple cauliflower? Purple cauliflower soup (how awesome would purple soup be?!) Do you have any suggestions?

It’s A Beautiful Day

Yesterday might have been the most exciting day of my career. I got to unpack a brand new 20 inch iMac and set it on my desk. And I get to keep him. He’s so handsome. And his name is Cole. My supervisor said the only time she’s seen me this happy is when I got the call for AJ.
Unfortunately, I had to install Windows on it (certainly not my preference). It felt bad and wrong. It sat for several minutes with that horrible BSOD blue. I could barely look at it. Yuck.
But it’s mine (at work!). The only thing better would have been a Macbook.

I said “yes, thank you.”
“A little thinner?”
“No, that’s fine.”
“A little thinner?”
“No, that looked great.”
“A little thinner?”
“Sure.”

As I mentioned here, today marks one year since we met AJ for the first time. We’ll be celebrating our anniversary as a family this weekend… as it was a whole week of exciting things. Our first meeting, the day he was officially placed in our arms and the day he flew to America.
In some ways, I cant believe its been a year already. In other ways, it feels like forever. I’m not going to lie and say I dont remember what life was like before AJ (I clearly remember sleeping 9-10 hours straight and sitting on the couch watching TV for an entire Saturday) but I am being honest when I say its been well worth the trade. Sleep and TV have nothing on that boy’s smile.
Happy Anniversary to us!

Since You’ve Been Gone

Yes, I’ve been gone for awhile. And what was important enough to bring me back? Crocs.

I’m rethinking my decision on Crocs. Like many trendy things, I scoffed at Crocs when they first became popular. According to Wikipedia, they’ve been around since 2002. My main issues with them were their style, I’m not a clog kind of girl (the only exception for wearing clogs should be, well, clogging) and I wasnt interested in wearing shoes made of plastic.
Years and years have gone by, and I’ve remained uninterested in Crocs. Until recently, when I started noticing that they were getting cuter. First came the Mary Jane style (which is still a little too clunky for my taste) and now they have some that dont even look like they are made of plastic.
Over the weekend, a friend of mine came over and slipped her new Crocs off. Out of curiosity, I asked if I could try them on. Having never had my feet in a pair, I felt it was wrong to hold that whole “plastic” thing against them. Even a size too big, they were super comfy. Squishy, but supportive. And, according to her, they claim to be odor resistant and she has yet to sweat in them, even in the past weeks heat. Not sweating in plasticy shoes? Impressive.
And so, maybe I’m okay with Crocs. I might even buy a pair. After spending some time on their website, I was most impressed with the pricing. $30 is the average price. That’s reasonable. (Unreasonable would be that a pair for AJ would cost the same!).
Here are some that have caught my eye… I’m most impressed by the sueded shoe (though it is the most expensive) and pleased that purple is a color option for many of these (though its a bright grape and probably wont match many of my purples). What do you think? Should I take the plunge and buy a pair?

Well, it took me all day, but I just wanted to point out that I’ve been blogging for 5 years now. How crazy is that?
Work has been extra busy lately… but I had an extremely lazy (3-day) weekend to make up for it.

In other news:

My big toe has stopped needing to be popped. Thank God.
We had the worst luck when trying to watch So You Think You Can Dance last week. Of course, now that I’m no longer married to a cable guy, our DVR is having major issues and keeps rebooting. Uncool. (hm, I realize that statement may sound like I’m no longer married. Heh. Thats not true. But The Steve is no longer a cable guy). We got a good chunk of it watched, though. At least its just try outs.
I thought I would be glad that Encounter was breaking for the summer, but I already miss it. Last week was crazy good.
I’ve joined a planning committee, outside of my office, for a Tech Expo in the Fall. I’m part of the Food Committee. Go figure.
I dont have a good way to end bullet points. That is all.

Save The Last Dance For Me

What do I have to do to get you to watch “So You Think You Can Dance?” this season? Cause I’ll do it. But really, there’s no reason not to watch. It’s GOOD reality TV. And now that regular shows are ending and summer is near, you totally have room in your schedule for a little dancing.
The premiere is tonight. Like American Idol, it’ll be a couple of weeks of try outs, so you get to see some awesome dancers and some horrible attempts at dancing. Highly enjoyable (and you’ve probably already seen this guy face-plant. ouch). Come on, thats good stuff! (but let me apologize for the judge Mary Murphy. I admit she’s a bit much. I give you permission to use your fast forward button).
